Between the holiday cookies and New Year’s Eve champagne, you may have noticed your skin isn't quite as healthy as you wish it were. Well fear not, we at Slayed have already done the footwork to find out the best foods to get your skin back to its vibrant and fresh look.

  • Foods rich in vitamin A such as sweet potatoes and carrots! These are considered some of the healthiest foods in the world. Sweet potatoes are the most awesome because they provide us with all the vitamin A we need, and it’s vitamin A that loans itself to healthy skin and eyesight. See, not ALL the holiday food we scarfed was bad for us. Vitamin A also fights against wrinkles, its what all those expensive night creams are loaded with, and sweet potatoes and carrots are much cheaper! We can get over 300% of our recommended daily value per cup of these little orange gems.

  • Veggies and fruits with high water content are also bomb. We all know that water is where it’s at for clear skin; watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, and tomatoes are all above 90% water per volume.

  • Foods with high vitamin K. Brussels sprouts, cooked kale, scallions, and asparagus all help with reducing those infamous dark under eye circles.

  • Get your Omega-3s to help prevent breakouts. We recommend going out for a sushi date to get some salmon, throwing a bag of walnuts in your purse to munch on while you’re out, and using flaxseed milk in your morning cereal to get ample omega-3 servings.

  • Avocados. Hell to the yea. I said it and I know you've been waiting for it. We all love the green goddess. These are the super food; they have Antioxidant Carotenoids for aging, vitamin C, vitamin E, and they help keep moisture in. Amen! Now you can totally rationalize spending that extra dollar.

  • Get your vitamin C on! Kiwi, oranges, blueberries, and papaya all have antioxidants and are packed with vitamin C. These are best for your skin and immune system when they are eaten uncooked. They are delicious and easy to throw into a morning smoothie.

  • Whole grains will give your body the fiber it needs to help maintain a healthy digestive system.  These are a WAY better alternative to white breads/starches that only turn into sugar. Unhealthy looking skin is often a result of a poor maintained digestive system, so stock up on whole grain bread, oatmeal, and brown rice.
