Prepping yourself for the next morning is essential to having a great start to the day. It gives you the boost you need to conquer what lies ahead, and it all starts with how well you prep yourself the night before. In this night time beauty breakdown, I’ll list simple and easy to follow steps to getting that perfect evening routine.
You should begin your routine with a good facial cleanse. This will rid your face of all the makeup, dirt, and oil acquired on your face throughout the day. There are a lot of different ways to take care of this. For my simple process I double my facial cleanser as a makeup remover. I am currently using the ACURE Sensitive Facial Cleanser, which has an abundant amount of all-natural ingredients. It’s soapy enough to get my makeup off, yet sensitive enough for my dry skin.
*Remember that just because a product has all-natural ingredients, it doesn't mean your skin won't be allergic or irritated by it. Any body looking to try products with all-natural ingredients should still skin test the product before buying and applying on your face.
If you prefer to use your facial cleanser after your makeup is removed, you can opt for a makeup wipe or even just olive oil used with q-tips. A few cleansing wipes I like are the ACURE Cleansing Towelettes and Up & Up Makeup Remover. Oils that work well for cleansing are coconut oil or olive oil, which can both be purchased at Trader Joe's or your local whole foods store.
*Be sure to use extra virgin or virgin olive and coconut oils, as these are better for your skin!
2. Exfoliate (Once a week or ever few nights)
After my face is cleared from dirt and makeup about two to three times a week I like to use an exfoliating wash. I am currently using the ACURE Brightening Facial Scrub. This really digs deep and clears out my dead skin. Once you wash off the exfoliating scrub, your skin will feel refreshed, but remember to keep this step around two to three times a week.
*Exfoliating every day can cause to skin irritation especially if you have sensitive skin, so in this case less is more!
Toner is an important part of your nighttime beauty routine because it clears off dirt that was missed during the cleansing process and preps the skin for moisturizer. My personal favorite is Jeffrey James Botanicals Toner. It leaves me with that “I just left the spa” feeling.
My moisturizer of choice is the ACURE Argan Oil. I prefer an oil compared to a cream moisturizer because my skin really absorbs the oil and is nourished throughout the night. Moisturizing your skin is an important step because throughout the day your skin undergoes factors that dry it out like the weather and everyday activities. After washing the day off of your face, it needs hydration.
*Don't forget to test moisturizers and oils out on your forearm in little dabs before trying and buying for your face.
5. Eye Cream
If you have some kind of acne spot cream this is where you would to use it. Give yourself enough time before you hit the sheets so the cream can settle into your skin. I like to use an eye cream to combat those lines and circles around my eyes. A favorite of mine is ACURE Eye Cream.
6. Drink Water
One of the most important steps is to drink at least a full glass of water before you go to sleep. It will help you feel refreshed and ready when you wake up and also cleans the toxins in your body while you sleep. Perfect!
